LLARI Manifesto
Artificial intelligence has entered a phase where every incremental decision carries civilizational weight. Over the past decade, its development has accelerated to the point where AI is no longer a theoretical technology, but a central power in determining the economic, political, and intellectual future of humanity. Benchmarks - like the Turing Test - that once defined intelligence have been surpassed, and technology seems to be accelerating at a speed that benchmarks aren't able to keep up with. Progress is compounding. The next transition may not be just another improvement, but a shift toward systems whose capabilities rival those of humans'.
This reality introduces urgency, AI can't be safely postponed, or ignored. Its development is embedded in an international arms race. In such an environment, disengagement is not neutrality. Giving up one's position does not slow the race, it merely shifts the framework of development to others.
To understand LLARI's position, one must understand our underlying belief: objective Truth exists, and technological progress must be evaluated in relation to it. As AI approves rapidly, the goal must be to make it as Truth driven as possible.
Criticism of sudden technological improvement is not inherently mistaken. The detriment occurs when existential risk results in dismissal. In an epoch where the next step may determine the trajectory toward superintelligence, passivity is not a moral stance. It is an error.
AI development is objectively a pivotal point in human history, regardless of ideology or intention
AI has shown that it will either become humanity's most powerful tool, or its most destabilizing one. What seems clear to us is that decisions made now โ about governance, alignment, transparency โ will echo far beyond their immediate reach.
At the same time, LLARI challenges utopian thinking. The past has repeatedly shown that attempts at constructing a perfect world through technology have all ended in havoc. The Tower of Babel stands as a guidepost for the future of innovation.
LLARI exists to engage seriously with these challenges. We hold that the most reliable way to reach sound judgment in periods of rapid technological change is through sustained intellectual discourse โ debate, disagreement, and in depth research of ideas. Consensus does not emerge from withdrawal, but from arguments, experiments, and conversations informed by evidence.
For the many imperative reasons stated above, LLARI operates as a space for research, discussion, and strategic thinking about artificial intelligence and technology. We engage with leading minds in AI, science, and policy, host debates on the direction and governance of advanced systems, and conduct research across technical, philosophical, and societal domains. Our work centers on orienting technological development toward Truth and exploring the ways and conditions under which that alignment is possible.
AI will continue to advance, it is up to us whether it will do so correctly.
